The Lark Street BID is seeking a part-time manager to join our team.


Compensation:
$25 Hourly
Employment Type: Part-Time (20 hours per week)

The Manager will play a crucial role in continuing the revitalization of the BID and Lark Street itself. The Manager will be the connector between the members, Board, City and County departments, other public and private partners, and patrons and residents of the area. Day to day activities include ensuring the effective, efficient functioning of the organization by leading communications, overseeing various service contracts, conducting community outreach, and maintaining financial and operational excellence. The Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the organization and reports to the Board of Directors.

This job requires stakeholder engagement across the board, and will be in person. While the Lark Street BID maintains an office at 272 ½ Lark Street, the Manager will frequently work and meet with various stakeholders throughout Lark Street and the greater City of Albany.

Responsibilities

Community Outreach and Communications

  • Serve as the point of contact for internal and external clients.
  • Obtain, record, monitor and update membership information on an ongoing basis.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and mail in conjunction with our contracted service providers.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with all BID members and the surrounding community to increase community engagement and effectively carry out the mission and vision of the BID.

Administrative Management

  • In conjunction with the Board Treasurer, carry out financial procedures and reporting and ensure all applicable public accounting and financial standards are met.
  • Notice, plan for, and participate in Board meetings on a monthly and ad hoc basis in collaboration with the Board.
  • Manage BID supplies inventory, anticipating needed supplies, placing orders through proper channels, and maintaining inventory reporting.
  • Maintain financial and operations files and records, ensuring they are up-to-date, digitally organized, and properly accessible.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and pleasant work environment.

Service Contracts

  • Manage all contractors, and establish SLAs and performance-based outcomes and work with the contractors to meet, if not exceed, these.
  • Maintain up-to-date files on all service contracts.
  • Evaluate results and expenses on a weekly basis to ensure they are in line with expectations.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Board on the performance and financial impacts of all vendors.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in community development, urban revitalization, and/or business development.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic, team environment.
  • Public speaking and community outreach to diverse constituents and demographics.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, communication tech (such as Google platform), and social media platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a wide range of stakeholders College degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field is preferred.
