Step Back in Time to 1948!

 In honor of the 60th Anniversary of Albany's Tulip Fest, the Lark Street Business Improvement District is proud to present this years Champagne on the Park in 1948 style! Enjoy the sounds of the Big Band era with music from the 1940's performed live with dance floor in the Grande Tent. Period outfits will be highly encouraged for this once in a lifetime event.

 Champagne on the Park honors and congratulates members of the larger Lark Street Community with a full evening of complimentary champagne, fine wine and fabulous hors' d'oeuvres from the Lark Street BID merchants. This year's fundraiser not only allows us to celebrate the people and businesses of the Lark Street Neighborhood that make this area so unique and vibrant but also celebrate 60 years of Tulip Fest in historic Washington Park.

 Sponsors will have an opportunity to market their corporate image as well as enjoy a presence at this Lark Street marquee event through a fully executed and well balanced marketing package.

Celebrate Art, Music, Dance, Theatre and more

in Albany's Arts District!

 

The Lark Street Business Improvement District is proud to present Art on Lark 2008 on Saturday June 21st from 10 am to 5 pm. For the first time ever, the Lark Street BID will be closing the street and moving the artists off the sidewalk and onto Lark Street! This event will be bigger than ever with more artists, more musicians, dance performances, theatre performances, one-day installations, and many more special events that will showcase Lark Street as Albany's Arts District.

 Art on Lark is a day to celebrate the vibrant and exciting arts scene that Albany has. While you walk down the sidewalks, enjoy the city's biggest art exhibit while listening to this region's up & coming musicians and watching a daring new dance performance. Lark Street itself will be transformed into a giant visual and performing arts center for the day.

 For kids of all ages, the Creative Chaos area will once again be offering a hands-on experience for everyone. The Upstate Artists Guild will once again be hosting the Peoples Choice Show in the gallery at 247 Lark Street. The UAG will also be running the Sidewalk Chalk Contest.

 For the last 11 years in June, Art on Lark! transforms the streets of the Lark Street Neighborhood into an open-air art gallery with over 100 artist displays and live art demonstrations.  The family friendly, festive atmosphere is enhanced with musicians and a series of hands on programs that enable adults and children alike, to create their own works of art.  The reputation and attendance of this exciting arts event continues to grow, currently to 10,000 festival goers. This year, Art on Lark! is proud to partner once again with the Upstate Artists Guild to present the People’s Choice Awards, a non-juried art show. In addition, the Sidewalk Art Competition will be added to the day’s festive events. The Music is Back!!!

   WHAT

In 2007, The Lark Street BID revitalized the ever popular 6 week musical concert series in Washington Park throughout July-August. Nationally acclaimed artists joined local artists for wonderful nights of eclectically diverse music. Culinary treats from Lark Street’s best restaurants, branded “A Taste of Lark” were offered for purchase, highlighting the best that the area has to offer. For 2008, the BID would like to build on the relationships with sponsors as well as fans to continue the positive revitalization efforts.

   WHERE

Situated in picturesque Washington Park at the Amphitheatre on select Monday nights.

    WHEN

Monday nights starting on July 14th and running consecutively thru August 18th – performances start at 6:00pm-9:00pm.

   WHO

The Lark Street Neighborhood is an economically and racially diverse neighborhood. Past demographics have portrayed the festival goers to be between the ages of 30-60, middle class and from the surrounding area.

     PROMOTION & MARKETING:

The Monday Night Concert Series will be aggressively marketed throughout the Capital Region.  Publicity and promotion will consist of extensive television, radio, print and online media campaigns as well as posters and postcards distributed throughout the Capital Region.
