Winter WonderLARK

Saturday, December 8, 2012

Noon to 5 PM

Thanks for joining us on this past Saturday, December 10 for the 5th Annual Winter WonderLARK & the 6th Annual Santa Speedo Sprint!

You can check out pictures from the days' events at the Times Union and All Over Albany.

Ice Sculpting

This year, our incredibly talented ice sculptor made a number of beautiful ice sculptures; a snowflake, a pine tree, & a block of ice with our logo on it! These creations sparkled in the sun & were a fantastic addition to the day!

O'Tannenbaum Tree Trimming Contest

We decided to challenge our merchants to another contest.

This year, instead of decorating their windows, five businesses will

be decorating a tree. The trees will be out on the sidewalks in front

of each business & the public will be able to vote for their favorite

at each of the participating businesses.

Congratulations Lark Street Flower Market!

Outdoor Holiday Market

Our hardy merchants & vendors braved the cold to offer hot soup, kettlecorn, handmade jewelry and knit items, & lots of winter gear like mittens and gift items. If you haven't finished your Holiday shopping yet be sure to check out the shops and restaurants on Lark Street & on Madison Avenue, if you can't find the perfect gift, you can for sure find the perfect gift certificate!

Oaxacan Pottery Smashing

For the second year in a row, we had traditional Oaxacan Pottery Smashing during Winter WonderLARK! This fun activity is to bring good luck to yourself & loved ones in the New Year. After writing messages on the purchased pottery, the pieces are tossed behind your head & against a brick wall. The greater the number of pieces, the more the luck it is said that you will have in the New Year! By the looks of our yard after all the smashing was done, there are going to be some very lucky people in 2012!

Chef's Consortium Food Sampling

The Chef's Consortium gave Winter WonderLARK goers

a taste of what the Capital Region has to offer. Using local and seasonal ingredients, the chefs prepared a number

of dishes that were quickly gobbled up by everyone that stopped by!

Gingerbread Funshop

Always a crowd favorite, the Gingerbread Funshop was back at the UAG at 247 Lark Street. Kids & kids at heart decorated gingerbread cookies with lots of frosting & candy, viewed the current artwork & got out of the cold.

And Don't Forget the Santa Speedo Sprint!

Everyone's favorite race was back with lots of santas, elves, reindeer, & even a

gingerbread man running! If you missed the race you can check out pictures on the Times Union and All Over Albany websites.
